Mechanical seals
are mainly used for high speed sealing between liquids and
two gases the two surface aids the lubrication of the two
surface, conduct heat caused by friction and improve the
sealing effect. The diameter of the counter face should be
the same or larger than that of the carbon ring. the finish
of the carbon wearing surface and of the counter face is
critical to the relative wear rate. Counter face : Grey cast
iron, plain, steel alloyed steel hard
metal, ceramic, glass, tungsten carbide, silicon carbide.
